Session 15 - Awards Ceremony

Session 15 was the last SHINE session, so we held an awards ceremony for the girls, their families, primary school staff and other important guests.  The girls read the scripts they had prepared last session and everyone enjoyed watching some short video clips showing the filming the girls did in the green room in session 3 and the mock trial in session 13.  All the girls spoke well and Miss Ladbrook, Miss Burns and Miss Crichton will miss seeing them on a Saturday morning.

We were delighted to welcome back author Kate Maryon, who first met the girls at the SHINE launch, when she signed a copy of her book for them to keep.  The girls were surprised and delighted when Kate gave them all a signed copy of her new book 'Invisible Girl' to take away with them.

Session 14 - Preparing for the awards ceremony

Session 14 was a lively affair as the girls reflected on the previous 13 sessions and how they felt being chosen for SHINE.  The sixth formers helped the girls write speeches to read at next weeks final session, which they then practised performing to the rest of the group.  The girls also completed an evaluation form to let us know what they had enjoyed about SHINE and which sessions they found interesting and the most challenging.

Miss Ladbrook, Miss Burns and Miss Crichton are very much looking forward to the awards ceremony and celebrating a great year with the girls, their relatives, staff from local primary schools and distinguished guests.

Sessions 12 and 13

All the girls were amazing, The legal experts supported them throughout, which resulted in a very entertaining courtroom drama, resulting in Rihanna Red being found guilty and sentenced to 20 years in prison.  A very big thank you to Mrs Amanda Yip Q.C, Miss Jacqueline Wall, Miss Anna Fox, Mr Peter Goodbody, Miss Jessica Stone, Miss Sarah Lee and Mr Jonathan Buchan.
